Vera Jackson Memorial Scholarship Program

Vera Jackson Memorial Scholarship Program
Since it was founded in 1991, Georgia Community Foundation has been blessed to partner with many individuals and families to help them realize their philanthropic goals. One of GCF's most significant programs, the Vera Jackson Memorial Scholarship Program, was created as a result of a testamentary bequest.

Vera Jackson Memorial Scholarship Program: A native of Lumpkin County, Georgia, Vera Jackson wanted to provide an opportunity to high school graduates from north Georgia to attend college. Near the end of her life, Ms. Jackson contacted GCF about her desire to leave a portion of her estate to provide room and board scholarships to high school graduates from north Georgia who would be attending college on the Georgia HOPE Scholarship. Ms. Jackson met with her estate planning attorney, who drafted the relevant will and trust documents. Meanwhile, Ms. Jackson and GCF entered into a Donor Agreement that set forth the terms for the operation of the Vera Jackson Memorial Scholarship Program after her death. As a result of her generous bequest to GCF, 116 students have been able to attend college without incurring burdensome student loans.

You also may want to make it easy and convenient to have a bequest included in your will. The language link below shows how a bequest can very easily be included in your will.
